Shellharbour - Waterproofing and Façade Remedial Upgrade
Comprehensive remedial works were undertaken at a residential strata complex in Shellharbour to address widespread waterproofing failure affecting balconies, roof areas and external façade elements.
The project involved full balcony re-waterproofing across nominated units. Existing tiles, screeds and failed membrane systems were removed to expose the structural substrate. Concrete surfaces were mechanically prepared, repaired and regraded to achieve compliant falls to drainage outlets. A new high-performance waterproofing system was installed in accordance with NCC requirements and relevant Australian Standards, incorporating bond breakers, compliant upturns and detailed junction treatment to ensure long-term durability. Following flood testing and quality assurance inspections, balconies were retiled to restore both function and presentation.
Roof waterproofing works were undertaken concurrently to eliminate moisture ingress pathways contributing to internal damage. This included removal of defective membrane systems, substrate preparation and installation of new compliant roof waterproofing membranes, with careful attention to penetrations, upturns, terminations and drainage detailing to ensure system continuity.
As part of the broader asset upgrade, façade painting works were completed to reinstate protective coatings and improve overall building presentation. External surfaces were cleaned, repaired where required and recoated using durable exterior-grade systems suitable for coastal exposure conditions.
Works were delivered within an occupied strata environment, requiring structured staging, resident coordination and strict site management protocols. The result was a technically robust waterproofing upgrade combined with a refreshed façade finish, extending the service life of the building and enhancing long-term asset performance.
